Deltares is pleased to announce that the 15th International Conference on Pressure Surges will be held in Delft on April 15 - 17 2026 on the Deltares campus in Delft. This long running conference series will be continued to bring together experts from the field of pressure surges.
It is with great sadness that we have to inform you that our Chairman, Peter Glover, passed away on Thursday 5 June after a short battle with cancer. Sarah Jones has taken over as Chairman. She is supported by the local and international tac.
Who should attend?
Everyone who owns, constructs, designs, analyses, researches into or manufactures equipment for pipe systems needs to appreciate the possible consequences of pressure surges for them and would therefore benefit from participation in the conference.
Rising Stars
Deltares wishes to foster recent graduates (within the last 5 years) to encourage their development and interaction with experienced technical managers, engineers and researchers. For each full paying delegate, the organisers offer the option of a second place at a discounted rate for a colleague who meets the above criterion.
Students
A limited number of places will be available for bona fide students at a discounted rate of 50%.

During the conference 3 special keynote speakers are invite to talk about their work in relation to pressure surges. These are:

- Mohamed Ghidaoui, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST)
The first Ben Wylie prestige lecture will be given by Mohamed Tabara.

The conference will be held in the city of Delft, a city where history and innovation blend seamlessly. As you attend the conference, we invite you and your spouse to explore the many delights this picturesque city has to offer. Wander through the charming streets lined with historic buildings, visit the iconic Nieuwe Kerk and Oude Kerk, and immerse yourself in the world of Dutch art at the Vermeer Centrum.

Prior to the conference a technical site visit to the water authority of Brabantse Delta and the Bieschbosch will be held. During this day we will visit one of the pumping station and get explanation about the pressurized waste water main they operate.

Pressure Surges
Pressure Surges, Fluid Transients and Water Hammer all refer to potentially dangerous pressure fluctuations in pipes containing fluids. Developments in this field are driven by incidents and accidents such as those reported in a wide range of industrial systems: from 6 mm titanium tubes carrying hydrazine in satellites to 13 m concrete pipes conveying water in manmade rivers. Application areas range from mining to aerospace and from physiology to nuclear power. Positive use of the phenomenon is also possible: in hydraulic ram pumps, in industrial cleaning processes, in non-intrusive blockage and leakage detection, and in everybody’s circulation of blood.
The Pressure Surges conference series has been running since 1972. This conference benefits from that 50 year plus pedigree and continues to bring together practical engineers and theoretical academics, young and old, inexperienced and specialist, from all over the world. It is the leading conference in the area and the proceedings are proven books of reference for anyone interested in the subject.
The 15th conference will embrace both traditional and novel subjects. Industrial papers will present case studies, each telling its own story. Research papers will give updates on the latest developments in modelling, simulating and validating pressure surges. Dedicated Forum papers will stimulate audience interaction with presenters and will complement other discussion and debate sessions dedicated to interactive participation.
One focus of this 15th conference is on adapting pressure surge design to a changing world, taking into account climate awareness and new energy provision in topics such as carbon capture and storage, district heating, water power, etc.
Renowned specialists will be invited to lead distinct sessions dedicated to these contemporary themes.

Silver Sponsorship Package
The Silver package costs €2,000. Sponsors receive logo placement on the PSC website, the start slide and screen saver of each session, and in the conference proceedings. The first subsequent regular ticket is available at 50% discount.
Silver sponsors get a page on conference proceedings, and promotional materials in start gifts.
As an added benefit, Silver sponsors may send a poster to be displayed at the conference. An optional add-on is available for €1,000: coffee break sponsorship (five available spots), offering additional exposure.
Gold Sponsorship Package

Important – Authors please note
- Papers must be original, unpublished, and not pending publication elsewhere.
- The author submits each paper on the understanding that it will be independently reviewed. If the paper is accepted, the author must attend the whole conference to present the paper and discuss with delegates. The presenting author is entitled to a 25% discount on the full conference fee.
- Papers, and presentation at the conference, must be in English.
- Papers should be no longer than 15 printed A4 pages. There is no minimum length.
- The title should be appropriate to the scope of the Conference and should accurately reflect the content of the paper.
- Deltares will supply guidelines for the preparation of manuscripts. To be included in the proceedings, papers must conform to these guidelines.
- The copyright of accepted papers must be transferred to the publisher. Authors who wish to retain copyright must notify the organisers when submitting their abstracts. The transfer agreement includes provision for Open Access.
Conference Proceedings
The conference papers will be professionally published as a soft bound volume, a copy of which will be included in the registration fee together with a memory stick containing the papers in digital form. Additional copies of the proceedings will be available for sale after the conference.
