About Emma van Veenendaal
Emma is a PhD researcher at Deltares, studying the impact of floating solar (also known as floating photovoltaics, FPV) on freshwater ecosystems. She holds a bachelor's and master's degree in Biology and Aquaculture & Marine Resource Management (specializing in Marine Animal Ecology) from Wageningen University & Research, bringing a strong background in aquatic ecology and ecosystem dynamics.
By investigating how FPV installations influence water quality, biodiversity, and ecological processes, Emma contributes to Deltares' mission of ‘Enabling Delta Life.’ Through interdisciplinary research, she helps ensure that renewable energy innovations are implemented responsibly, balancing sustainability goals with freshwater conservation.
