About Erik Hendriks
Erik holds an MSc in Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resource Management from the Delft University of Technology and National University of Singapore (double degree).
Ever since he started working as a researcher, Erik has been fascinated by the interplay between physical processes, ecosystems and how human interventions impact both. From his background as a civil engineer, he investigates how dredging and offshore activities affect hydrodynamics and sediment dynamics. He collaborates closely with ecologists and biologists to find out how these changes will eventually affect the ecosystem. From this perspective, he also advises port authorities, dredging and energy companies on how to mitigate their environmental impact. His main working area is the North Sea and its adjoining estuaries. Erik has been involved in fundamental and applied research, both as an expert and project leader. In both roles, he connects people and expertise to achieve optimal results.
