About Eva Schoonderwoerd

Eva Schoonderwoerd is hydrogeologist at Deltares and is working in the Groundwater Management department of Deltares since 2020. She holds a bachelor's degree in Earth Sciences and a master's degree in Earth Surface and Water (hydrology/hydrogeology track) from Utrecht University. Within Deltares, she conducts research on groundwater in (mainly) the Netherlands within a variety of projects, often in the field of water availability and the impact of, for example, drought or salinization. Here she often pays attention to the tension between different sectors, such as nature, agriculture and drinking water supply.

For the analysis of groundwater systems she uses measurements during fieldwork, monitoring and numerical groundwater models. In doing so, she often applies scenarios to better understand the groundwater system and to identify possible measures for improved water supply. Eva applies her knowledge at different scales, both at the local scale (such as agricultural fields), landscape level (e.g., a stream valley) or national scale.
