About Gerard Blom
Gerard Blom has a professional career of more than 38 years in water management. He has been working at Deltares since 2010. Currently, he is the director of the Subsoil and Groundwater Systems Unit and coordinator of the Deltares’ activities in Latin America. Prior to joining Deltares, he worked for the Dutch Ministry of Transport and Public Works where he was responsible for information and research for the Room for the River project in the south-west of the Netherlands over a period of five years.
Later, he became head of the River Management Department and was involved in several other river management projects. Previously, he was an assistent professor in water quality modelling at Wageningen University for a period of 10 years. During this time, he led several water quality modelling projects in the Netherlands, the Philippines and the United States of America.
