About Guilherme Emidio Horta Nogueira
Guilherme is a hydrogeologist from Brazil with an extensive international background and education. His expertise spans from traditional hydrogeology, field experiments, and Geographic Information Systems, to data-driven analyses and integrated numerical modelling of hydrological systems.
He has a joint MSc degree in Groundwater and Global Changes – Impacts and Adaptations (https://www.groundwatermaster.eu/), and a PhD degree (Magna Cum Laude) in Natural Sciences from Bayreuth University, with focus on groundwater - surface water interactions and biogeochemical processes around river corridors. During his studies and works, he has been involved in projects in Brazil, Germany, Mozambique, Portugal, The Netherlands, and others.
In addition to his work at the Groundwater Management Department at Deltares, he participates and supports several water-related projects, from water risk assessment, to numerical modelling for securing fresh water resources in sensitive regions such as densely populated areas, coastal zones, and small islands. He actively participates in research and consultancy projects for governmental and private clients within the Netherlands and from abroad.
On the top of his main activities, he is also interested in MAR projects, nature-based-solutions, integrated water resources management, and other projects in the field of water and environment.
