About Luis Penuela Escobar
Luis Felipe is a civil engineer working within the Hydraulics of Pipeline Systems (HOPS) team at the Hydraulics for Infrastructure and Industry (H2I) in Deltares. His role in the team involves providing specialized advice to clients regarding pipeline network challenges.
Luis Felipe followed an international master programme in Water Resources & Environment and hydroinformatics between Escuela Colombiana de Ingeniería in Colombia and IHE Delft in The Netherlands. In 2023, he successfully defended his master’s thesis on Agent-based modelling to assess water-related conflicts in Turkana, Kenya. In his previous experience he participated in studies for water supply and urban drainage systems in the city of Bogotá, where he integrated technical and management aspects of the projects. Additionally, he also worked before in flood protection projects in rural areas in Colombia.
At Deltares, he focuses on innovative solutions for client issues. He utilizes specialized software like WANDA to address pipe challenges and contributes to creating more resilient pipeline systems.
