About Maaike van Aalst

Maaike is an expert in socio-economic impacts related to environmental change and climate adaptation with over 15 years’ experience in the water and economics field. She is currently actively engaged in promoting equity, well-being and justice aspects in relation to climate change and adaptation pathways.

Her work includes numerous international assignments related to socioeconomic resilience and impact assessment, mainly in Asia and Europe. She has several publications in the field of environmental change, social vulnerability, resilience and migration response. In the past she was involved in the development of long term resilient futures for the Mekong delta plan and Bangladesh delta plan.
