About Mari Irias Mata
Marisol Irías Mata has a background in Civil Engineering from the University of Costa Rica and a Msc. Degree in Coastal Engineering from Delft University of Technology. Since 2021, she has been working at Deltares as a junior advisor/researcher in the field of wave hydrodynamics and wave-structure interaction in the Coastal Structures and Waves department. During her time at Deltares, she has actively participated in research projects and consultancy projects for governmental and private clients within the Netherlands and from abroad.
Her main activities include the application of data-driven models and numerical wave models as SWAN and OpenFOAM. Since her master thesis, she has worked on the validation of the CFD package OpenFOAM for coastal structure applications using data from physical modeling campaigns. Recently, she has been involved in the development and improvement of the SWAN model.
