About Natalia Strigin

Natalia Strigin is a professional with over 15 years of experience in sustainable natural resource management, ecosystem restoration and equitable economic development. Her experience ranges from strategy development, project design and project management to technical advisory services, research, and partnership building across the globe. Natalia has worked in over 20 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East, focused on conflict and disaster affected regions and communities.

Natalia recently joined Deltares where she works on various international projects focused on nature-based solutions and nature-inclusive design pertaining to coastal and offshore ecosystems. In this role Natalia has been involved in projects dealing with sediment budget management and dredging, the ecological enhancement of offshore wind farm installations, the consideration of biodiversity impacts in LCA methodologies as well as the development of a guidance note on nature-based solutions with ports. In her role, she contributes to Deltares’ aim to generate and share knowledge on sustainable offshore developments and enhancing the resilience of life in delta areas around the globe.

In her previous career path, Natalia worked as an agricultural and food security advisor, where her work focused on nature-based solutions for climate change adaptation in rural and peri-urban areas, promotion of agro-ecological practices in agricultural value chains and strengthening of local food system through community and policy work. In the various roles she has conducted environmental impact assessments, developed technical guidance material agro-ecological practices, lead market and value chain analyses and facilitated trainings on participatory natural resource management. Moreover, she worked on disaster risk reduction strategies and the establishment of early warning systems with local communities and authorities.

Natalia holds a MSc in Applied Coastal and Marine Management from University College Cork, Ireland and a MA in Conflict Resolution from Bradford University, UK.
