About Patricia Trambauer
Patricia is a senior hydrologist with a Uruguayan background. She has a strong foundation in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering, later specializing in hydrological research and the development of Operational water management tools and approaches. Her main expertise includes seasonal hydrological and agricultural drought forecasting, impact-based forecasting, and early warning systems designed to support informed decision-making. Patricia is particularly focused on developing valuable forecasts to help decision-makers reduce the impact of hydro-meteorological hazards like droughts and floods, especially in the context of climate variability and change.
A civil engineer by training, Patricia holds an M.Sc. in Hydrology and Water Resources and earned her Ph.D. in Hydrological Drought Forecasting. Her doctoral research focused on hydrological drought forecasting and early warning systems in Africa, with an emphasis on the Limpopo river basin in Southern Africa. She has contributed to the academic community through publications in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and conference proceedings, and has presented her work at numerous international conferences.
Patricia's professional experience spans national and international research and consultancy projects across Africa, Europe, and South America. She has significant experience in the development of real-time hydrological forecasting systems, often using Delft-FEWS, and has been involved in all phases from design to implementation.
Currently, Patricia works for Deltares as a Senior Advisor, proposal writer and project leader. Since 2024, she is also the Regional Manager for Latin America and the Caribbean, where she is responsible for business development and regional strategy.
