About Rianne van den Meiracker

With a background in environmental chemistry and toxicology, Rianne is committed to improving water quality, particularly in the Netherlands, but also abroad. One of the most important motivations in her work is to contribute to a healthier water-subsurface system. Within Deltares, her work fits in with the Moonshot Resilient and healthy water systems for people and nature.

Examples of projects:

• National Monitoring Network for Crop Protection Products in Agriculture and Horticulture: monitoring of crop protection products in surface water at various locations in the Netherlands to establish links between the use of crop protection products and compliance with water quality standards in surface water.
• Research into the origin of substances in the environment: hundreds of thousands of substances, used for a wide range of applications, are available on the market. These substances can enter the environment via various routes, but via which routes exactly? And which factors play a role in the release of these substances into the environment? Deltares is involved in various projects to gain insight into this and to provide targeted advice on action perspectives.
