About Robert Groenewege
Robert Groenewege is a physical geographer specializing in the dynamics and morphology of rivers. His current focus is on modeling and data analysis of these, mainly for or in collaboration with government organizations (e.g. Rijkswaterstaat) and companies. He also works on the functional management of the programmatic research grant and collaboration between Deltares, Rijkswaterstaat, and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management.
After obtaining his bachelor's degree in Earth Sciences, he earned his master's degree in Earth Surface and Water at Utrecht University. He wrote his master's thesis on abandoned river bends that can still be found in the landscape. As part of his master's program, he also did an internship at Deltares. During this internship, he researched the modeling of flash floods that regularly occur in North Africa and the Middle East.
