About Tommer Vermaas
Tommer Vermaas is an expert in the field of coastal geology, offshore sand mining and applied geology. He received his MSc. in Physical Geography at Utrecht University with a specialization in coastal and river systems. Before he joined Deltares he worked at Alterra (currently WENR) at the centre for geoinformation.
He is project leader for the major update of the Dutch offshore sand mining model (‘Delfstoffen Informatie Systeem’, DIS 3.1) being constructed together with TNO Geological Survey of the Netherlands and Rijkswaterstaat. With his integrated approach on coastal development, nourishment behaviour and insight in the subsurface his work contributes to keeping our delta safe in a sustainable way.
