About Wesley van Veggel
Wesley van Veggel is an researcher/advisor in the field of environmental economics. He has a master’s degree in international economics from the Erasmus University and a master degree in Climate Studies from the Wageningen University and Research.
At Deltares he is combining his knowledge and experience in economics, climate adaptation and mitigation. Using his knowledge on ecosystem services, natural capital and economic incentives by taking a multi-disciplinary approach.
Working on large projects such as Large scale RESToration of COASTal ecosystems through rivers to sea connectivity (REST-Coast) and NL2120 by adding an economic perspective in order to identify socio-economic barriers and opportunities of nature based solutions. This is done by connecting science to both practice (pilot level) and policy development. Additionally, he is involved in identifying socio-economic boundary conditions for a potential business case and thereby developing success climate adaptation strategies in both the Netherlands and developing countries.
