The intention is to deepen a small portion of the Alameda Creek bed, which spans over 60 meters, with the aim of easing sediment transport and reducing the frequency of dredging. This will result in a local decline in groundwater levels, potentially influencing the interconnected system of groundwater infiltration linked to neighboring lakes and drinking water abstraction wells. There is an additional likelihood of heightened saline intrusion from the nearby San Francisco Bay. To thoroughly investigate these potential impacts, an intricate groundwater model was crafted using MODFLOW6, featuring an unstructured grid with elements ranging from 5 to 100 meters. This report describes the model setup, calibration process, and the effects of various applied scenarios.
