Studies into the effects of climate change usually take climate scenarios as their starting point. In this Deltares/Rijkswaterstaat study we started at the opposite end of the effect chain and examined whether, and for how long, current water management will continue to be effective. This has shown, for instance, that climate change and the rise in sea level are more likely to cause a threat to the freshwater provision in the West of the Netherlands than to cause a threat from flooding.
