Collaboration with the Port of Rotterdam Authority
At the end of September, Deltares and the Port of Rotterdam Authority signed a cooperation agreement with the aim of collaborating on innovations for water management and the subsurface in the port region. The agreement aims to develop joint knowledge, in order to make the port of Rotterdam more sustainable and more resilient to climate change.

Jan-Joost Schouten, Head of the Hydrodynamics and Offshore Department at Deltares: "We are very enthusiastic about this collaboration with the Port of Rotterdam Authority. Deltares has a long history of research and advice in the port of Rotterdam. We would like to use our expertise more intensively to find innovative solutions for water and nature management, infrastructure and climate adaptation together with the Port Authority. Our knowledge fits in perfectly with the challenges in the port of Rotterdam, such as dealing with rising sea levels and making infrastructure more sustainable."

The Port of Rotterdam Authority is also positive about the collaboration. "The port of Rotterdam wants to be climate neutral by 2050 and at the same time remain vital and competitive," a spokesperson said. "By working together with Deltares, we can develop better and more sustainable solutions."
