Financing for ‘ReThink The Delta’ proposal not approved
Unfortunately, financing for the ‘ReThink The Delta’ proposal has not been approved by the National Growth Fund. The work done to produce the proposal generated a lot of inspiration and team spirit. We will be developing the philosophy further on the basis of the feedback and by working closely with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management.
The challenge of keeping the Netherlands and the world liveable for future generations in the face of future climate extremes is vitally important. Knowledge and new delta technology are crucial for a climate-resilient business climate in the future. With broad support from a large number of public and private partners, the parties involved will be working together to find other ways to achieve the goals of the ReThink the Delta knowledge and innovation programme. In the years ahead, we will be investing in the coalition, in the partnerships and in training a new generation of delta workers to be ready for the future.
About ‘ReThink The Delta’
As part of the 'ReThink The Delta' programme, more than 73 parties combined their knowledge and innovation strengths and submitted a proposal to provide answers to trans-generational existential questions. How will the Netherlands and the rest of the world remain liveable if sea levels rise by two to three metres? And what will we do about extreme water shortages, land subsidence and intense rainfall?
