Deltares SME Challenge 2025 opens 1 May
The SME Challenge is open to pioneering solutions in areas such as water management, climate adaptation, sustainable infrastructure, greenhouse gas reduction, energy transition, and land use. Selected participants will gain free access to Deltares’ state-of-the-art research facilities and receive guidance from leading experts.
Innovation in water and soil
In previous editions, Deltares has supported a wide range of promising initiatives—such as a wave energy converter that harnesses energy from ocean waves, an innovative return pumping concept, a 3D-printed coral reef for ecosystem restoration, a fungus-based biofilter that transforms pollutants into fertile biomass, and a device that extracts CO₂ from the ocean, among many others. Participation in the SME Challenge helped these projects make significant strides toward real-world application.
The winners of the autumn 2024 edition are now preparing to test their prototypes. Deltares is excited to once again welcome breakthrough ideas in this new round.
