Green Port Policy in Tanzania

Deltares has developed a Green Port Policy approach that identifies the steps and actions required to become a green port. It has elaborated these steps into an implementation plan. The Green Port Policy describes how ports can minimise and mitigate the negative social and environmental impacts of port operations, while taking the current situation and future developments into account. The Policy builds on previous work, serves as a guide for decision-making and creates awareness among all stakeholders of the importance of being a Green Port. Deltares has successfully implemented this approach for the Tanzania Port Authorities (TPA) in Dar es Salaam.
