Flooding in IDP camps in Dikwa LGA, Borno State, Nigeria, exacerbates vulnerabilities for displaced populations. A 2022 flood displaced over 2.4 million people nationwide, damaging shelters. To address this, IOM and Deltares conducted a Rapid Flood Hazard Assessment using hydrological modeling to evaluate risks and improve drainage in 17 camps. Results show most camps lack effective drainage, leaving them highly vulnerable. Proposed drainage improvements significantly reduce risks, but some high-risk camps may require relocation. Recommendations include expanding drainage, integrating it into camp planning, and using a developed interactive dashboard for informed decisions.
